Weekly On-line Rabbi's D'var-Torah

September 14, 2023 28 Elul 5783 Rosh Hashanah

During the month leading up to Rosh Hashanah we add Psalm 27 to our liturgy, both in the morning and in the evening. In the fourth verse we read: “One thing I ask of Adonai—for this I yearn: to dwell in the house of Adonai all the days of my life—to behold God’s beauty, to pray in God’s sanctuary.” We no longer take it for granted that we can pray in God’s sanctuary. It’s something that can be taken away from us with barely a moment’s notice. So, I hope that I will see as many of you as possible in the coming days. As we come together to celebrate the arrival of the New Year 5784 in the House of Adonai, may we all look at one another—the co-members of our community—and perhaps we will all catch a glimpse of God’s beauty. Jodi and the kids join me in wishing you a wonderful New Year. L’shanah Tovah! Shalom, RAF.
