Kadima

Kadima is a youth organization for Conservative Jewish congregations, serving pre-teen children in grades 6 through 8. Its purpose is social, religious and social-action oriented. Kadima is a great way for our kids to interact and develop friendships with Jewish children both in and out of the SJCC. One of the impressive aspects of Kadima is that our kids primarily run the group, with support and guidance from our youth advisor, and a little behind-the-scenes help from parents. The children elect their own peers to leadership positions, recommend their own activities and then take responsibility for planning and running the events

Leslie Glass is our Youth Advisor to the Summit chapter. Leslie is a school social worker with a Masters in Social Work. Leslie brings enthusiasm, experience and a real sensitivity to kids in this age group. She has many creative ideas and is continually looking to organize new and interesting activities. Leslie has an impressive professional background in Jewish and secular education coupled with social services.

Click here to see the current Kadima Activity Schedule *. Please note, that events are still being planned so many dates for local events are not included in this letter. This is not an all-inclusive calendar! The Kadima board will communicate dates and event details via e-mail and phone chains.

Please encourage your children to join Kadima. To join, just return the completed Kadima Membership Form * and dues. It’s never too late to join!

Parental involvement is essential for the success of our Kadima program. The committee helps coordinate the activities. Help is needed with chaperoning and driving to events, both regional and local. Assistance with some of the traditional programs such as Kadima Shabbat and the Annual Purim Carnival is also needed.

Leslie Glass should be your primary contact if you would like more details on upcoming events from an adult or want to discuss any issues about your child and how he/she interacts with the group. From time to time, information is send directly to parents, in parallel to what the kids have communicated with each other. Please send email to Amy Ashinsky with your current address if you want to be on the mailing list.
