About Us Observance Community Learning Helping Resources
Welcome

The SJCC is an egalitarian, Conservative synagogue, located in the heart of Summit, New Jersey. For over 80 years we have been a spiritual home for congregants who are drawn to our vibrant, inclusive Jewish community. Today the Summit Jewish Community Center is a dynamic center of Jewish life for over 300 families from Summit and surrounding towns in Union, Morris, Essex and Somerset Counties. At the SJCC we focus on the wide interests of our community. We offer weekday minyans as well as Sabbath and festival worship; a fully-accredited nursery school; religious school, post-graduate (high school) and adult education programs; social action and volunteer opportunities; and a range of social programs for all ages, including adults, teens and seniors. If you are not yet a member of the SJCC community, we invite you to come worship, learn and grow with us.

Now you can inscribe your family in our new Sefer Chaim (Book of Life)
Be a part of creating history as we begin to write our Sefer Chaim. Each week a beautifully decorated parchment, containing significant events in the life of our congregation, will be displayed in the synagogue lobby. This is a wonderful way to commemorate a family event or milestone while also supporting the synagogue. Congregants can enter special simchas (birthdays, anniversaries, baby namings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs), as well as yahrzeits to remember a loved one. Each entry is $54. and the inscriptions will be done by Linda Coppleson. Our aim is for eventual 100% participation by all our members. For more information contact Penny Pincus.
Coming Soon
Each year, many members of our congregation honor departed friends and loved ones by including their names in a Yizkor booklet we prepare for the Yom Kippur services.

If you wish to include someone in this year’s booklet, please fill out the Yizkor Booklet Information Form and return it to the SJCC office by August 27th along with your donation.
