About Us Observance Community Learning Helping Resources
Welcome

Welcome to the Summit Jewish Community Center website. The SJCC is an egalitarian, Conservative synagogue, located in the heart of Summit, New Jersey. For 80 years we have been a spiritual home for congregants who are drawn to our vibrant, inclusive Jewish community.

Today the Summit Jewish Community Center is a dynamic center of Jewish life for over 300 families from Summit and surrounding towns in Union, Morris, Essex and Somerset Counties.

At the SJCC we focus on the wide interests of our community: We offer daily minyans as well as Sabbath and festival worship; a fully-accredited nursery school; religious school, post-graduate (high school) and adult education programs; social action and volunteer opportunities; and a range of social programs for all ages, including adults, teens and seniors.

Follow the links across the top of the page to find program descriptions, activity calendars, and information about our rabbi, cantor, educational directors and lay leaders. If you are not yet a member of the SJCC community, we invite you to come worship, learn and grow with us. For more information, please call us at 908-273-8130 or click on the "Contact Us" link at left.

Now you can inscribe your family in our new Sefer Chaim (Book of Life)
We are inaugurating a new opportunity for congregational participation and a new SJCC tradition, as we begin to write our Sefer Chaim. Each week a beautifully decorated parchent ,containing signifcant events in the life of our congregation, will be displayed in the synagogue lobby.

This is a wonderful way to commemorate a family event or milestone while also supporting the synagogue. Congregants can enter special simchas (birthdays, anniversaries, baby namings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs), as well as yahrzeits to remember a loved one.

Each entry is $54. and the inscriptions will be done by Linda Coppleson. Our aim is for eventual 100% particpation by all our members. For more information contact Penny Pincus.

2009 Summer Fun Program
